We have mentioned CE marks here before and now there is a new mark for products supplied into Great Britain. So, what is the UKCA mark?
Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 No.1105 and the UKCA Mark
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is the new product marking that will be required for certain products placed on the market in Great Britain. It covers most products that previously required the CE marking including pressure equipment.
The UKCA marking came into force on 1st January 2020 and after 31st December 2021 only products with UKCA marking will be accepted in Great Britain.
Our approved body will be TÜV UK Ltd. (0879) for UKCA marking services and we already conform to assessment procedures that allow us to use the UKCA mark on our products and the certificate has been issued.
As with the Pressure Equipment Directive all pressure equipment and assemblies above specified pressure and/or volume thresholds must: be safe, meet essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing, satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures, and carry the UKCA mark and other information.
Sound Engineering Practice (SEP) and the UKCA Mark
Pressure equipment and assemblies below the specified pressure/volume thresholds must: be safe, be designed and manufactured in accordance with the sound engineering practice (SEP) and carry specified markings (but not the UKCA mark).
